5 Best Futures Prop Firms for Beginners in 2026
By Tradekage | June 2026 | Updated with Lucid 90/10 upgrade, Apex 4.0, Tradeify Select launch, and current KAGE promo rates.
The question that shows up every week
"Which prop firm should I start with if I'm on a budget?"
I get this in the Discord constantly. And most of the answers people find online are either paid placements, outdated, or written by someone who's never actually traded a funded account. This guide is different. These are the five firms I watch traders use day in, day out in the community. Real 2026 rules. Real pricing with KAGE codes applied.
Three of these firms changed significantly between March and June 2026. Lucid upgraded to 90/10 splits and currently has a 50% flash sale running. Apex 4.0 eliminated monthly fees and switched to one-time pricing. If you're reading anything older than June 2026, you're working with stale information.
Budget definition: under $120 all-in on a 50K account with KAGE code applied. Beginner definition: consistently profitable in simulation, no funded account history yet.
What beginners get wrong before they even pick a firm
The firm is not the problem. I've watched traders cycle through four different firms blaming each one, when the actual issue was they never pressure-tested their strategy against the firm's specific rules before paying.
Two things kill more evaluations than anything else:
Picking the cheapest option without understanding drawdown mechanics. A $19 Apex eval sounds incredible -- and it can be -- but intraday trailing drawdown works differently to EOD. Know which one you're buying before you click.
Treating the evaluation like demo trading. Position limits, consistency rules, T1 news restrictions -- any one of them can close your account without warning if you haven't internalized them first.
Your first job is survival. Forget getting rich this year. Your real goal is to not blow your account in the first month.
That's not pessimism. That's the mindset every profitable funded trader I've watched build through this started with.
Quick comparison (50K account, KAGE code applied)
Firm | Price After Code | Billing | Eval Drawdown | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
~$70 | One-time | EOD | Overall | |
~$34.90 | One-time | Intraday or EOD | Budget | |
~$102/mo | Monthly | EOD | Beginners | |
~$107 | One-time | EOD | Rule clarity | |
~$75/mo | Monthly | EOD | Flexibility |
Understand drawdown before you buy anything
Every firm in this list uses trailing drawdown. But trailing drawdown is not one thing -- the two mechanics behave completely differently under normal trading conditions, and picking the wrong one for your style will cost you evaluations before you figure it out.
EOD Trailing Drawdown
Your floor only updates once, at market close. You're up $2,000 intraday, give back $1,800 by 2pm, and close up $200. Your floor hasn't moved. Intraday volatility doesn't touch your buffer. Tradeify, Lucid, MFFU Flex, and Apex EOD all work this way.
Intraday Trailing Drawdown
Your floor moves in real time with your highest unrealized balance during the session. You're up $2,000 intraday, floor rises $2,000. You give it back and close flat. Net zero day but your floor moved and never came back down. This is how TPT's PRO funded account, Apex Intraday, and MFFU Rapid funded accounts work.
This is the rule that ends experienced traders more than beginners. Beginners get stopped out early before drawdown becomes the issue. Experienced traders grow the account, gain confidence, oversize one position after a strong streak, and hit the floor on a day they're technically net positive overall. Know your mechanic.

#1 Best overall: Lucid Trading

Why it's first: Under 15 minutes payout processing. 90/10 split across all accounts. 50% flash sale active with KAGE right now. LucidFlex removes daily loss limits and consistency rules entirely once funded the cleanest funded ruleset in this comparison. And at $93 one-time on a 50K with the current code, the entry cost is hard to beat.
Three account paths
LucidPro -- Standard evaluation path. EOD drawdown. No DLL on 25K. DLL applies on 50K+ ($1,200/$1,800/$2,700). 90/10 split. Free activation. Pass in as little as one day.
LucidFlex -- Evaluation with 50% consistency rule. EOD drawdown. No DLL at any stage, eval or funded. No consistency rule once funded. 90/10 split. Free activation. The cleanest rule set once you pass.
LucidDirect -- Instant funded, no evaluation required. Straight to funded. 20% consistency rule. EOD drawdown. A LucidScale DLL kicks in once you exceed your initial trail balance: 60% of peak EOD balance. Minimum 5 days before first payout.
LucidFlex Eval | 25K | 50K | 100K | 150K |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Price (with KAGE 50%) | $50 | $65 | $112.50 | $172.50 |
Profit Target | $1,250 | $3,000 | $6,000 | $9,000 |
Max Loss Limit | $1,000 | $2,000 | $3,000 | $4,500 |
Daily Loss Limit | None | None | None | None |
Consistency (Eval) | 50% | 50% | 50% | 50% |
Consistency (Funded) | None | None | None | None |
Current flash sale: 50% OFF all accounts including Direct with code KAGE. Limited to 2 uses per user. If Lucid has been on your radar, this is one of the better entry points they've offered.
Why LucidFlex is the one to watch
LucidFlex is the account most experienced traders gravitate toward. The eval has a 50% consistency rule and EOD trailing drawdown -- standard, manageable. No DLL at any stage. Pass the eval and the funded account has no consistency rule and no daily loss limit either. EOD drawdown continues. Just trade within the max loss limit and you're free.
LucidPro is the stronger option if you need a smaller upfront cost and don't mind the DLL on 50K+ evals. Note the 25K Pro has no DLL, the DLL only kicks in from 50K and above on that plan.
LucidDirect is for experienced traders who want to skip the eval entirely and go straight to funded. The 20% consistency rule is tighter than Flex or Pro, and the LucidScale DLL (60% of peak EOD balance) is a dynamic intraday brake once you're above your initial trail. Understand both mechanics before buying Direct.
Best for: Scalpers, news traders, and anyone who needs same-session payout processing. Traders who want the cleanest funded rules with the strongest payout infrastructure.

#2 Best value: Apex Trader Funding

Why it's second: The cost-per-attempt math is unlike anything else in this list. 90% off with KAGE means a 50K eval can cost $24.90. 100% profit split on your first $25K. And the March 2026 4.0 overhaul fixed most of the friction points that made old Apex frustrating.
What changed in 4.0 (March 2026)
Apex 4.0 launched March 1, 2026 and it's a genuinely different product to what most YouTube reviews still describe. Monthly fees gone. All evaluations are now one-time purchases. EOD trailing became available as the default product. The MAE rule that punished open-trade drawdown is gone. The 5:1 risk-reward restriction is gone. The one-direction rule is gone. Manual payout review is gone. Six total rules removed. Payouts now process automatically through Deel, most in minutes.
Two things that didn't make the headlines: the eval window is 30 days from purchase with no extensions and no resets. Miss it and you buy another eval at the current promo rate. And the activation fee applies separately on Standard plans and is not discounted by KAGE factor it into your all-in cost before buying.
Two evaluation types
Intraday Trail -- Your floor moves in real time with your highest unrealized balance. Larger position limits on eval. Lower eval price. Activation fee charged separately ($69-$129 depending on size).
EOD Trail (Standard) -- Floor only updates at session close. DLL on both eval and PA. Activation fee $89-$149. PA is capped at 6 maximum payouts after that the account closes and you need a new eval. 100% payout split on all 6.
EOD Trail (No Activation Fee) -- Same funded rules as EOD Standard but the activation fee is bundled into the eval price upfront. Higher one-time cost, no surprise fee on pass.

PA Consistency | 50% | 50% | 50% | 50% |
PA Activation Fee | $69 | $69 | $99 | $129 |
Apex Metals (Gold, Silver) Trading is Back. NQ, ES, CL, and other non-metals instruments unaffected. $1,000 minimum profit required before first withdrawal on PA.
The 5-pack bundle lets you buy 5 evals in a single checkout. At $19.90 each on Intraday 25K/50K, this is the cheapest cost-per-attempt in the market. Eval active for 30 days. No resets. Budget the PA activation fee separately -- KAGE does not discount it.
Best for: Scalpers, NQ/ES traders, multi-account runners. Anyone who needs the lowest cost per attempt in the market. Traders who can manage intraday trailing drawdown or want the EOD option with a daily loss limit buffer.

#3 Best for beginners: Take Profit Trader

Why it's third: Cleanest evaluation rules in this list. EOD drawdown on the test phase. Same-day payouts on PRO from day one. For a first funded experience, this is the most forgiving entry.
The evaluation
Simple one-step evaluation. Hit the profit target across 5 minimum trading days. EOD trailing drawdown the entire time -- your floor only moves at session close. Daily loss limit has been removed across all account sizes. 50% consistency rule applies on the eval: no single day can account for more than half your total profits. News trading allowed. No trading bots. No counter positions.
Hard rule: any position open past 5pm ET results in automatic account failure. No exceptions.
Size | Price/mo | Profit Target | EOD Trail DD | Price w/ KAGE |
|---|---|---|---|---|
25K | $150 | $1,500 | $1,500 | ~$90/mo |
50K | $170 | $3,000 | $2,000 | ~$102/mo |
100K | $330 | $6,000 | $3,000 | ~$198/mo |
150K | $360 | $9,000 | $4,500 | ~$216/mo |
The funded accounts -- what most guides miss
TPT runs two funded stages and the drawdown type changes when you advance.
PRO Account -- Intraday trailing drawdown. 80/20 profit split. Daily payouts from day one. No consistency rule. No DLL. Max 5 PRO accounts. T1 news banned on funded. Drawdown locks once realized profit exceeds the DD amount by $100 -- so on a 50K, once you're up $2,100, the floor locks at $50,100.
PRO+ Account (auto-upgrade) -- Switches back to EOD drawdown. 90/10 split. Triggered when you make $10K in a single day or $20K total profit on the account. This is the live-capital tier.
The drawdown shift from EOD (eval) to Intraday (PRO) is the thing traders get caught by most. You pass on EOD rules, get funded, and suddenly your floor is moving in real time. Trade the PRO account with the same respect you'd give a strict intraday firm.
Best for: Beginners who want the cleanest evaluation experience and same-day payouts. Traders whose strategy has a clear session window and doesn't rely on holding intraday runners into the close.

#4 Best for rule clarity: Tradeify

Why it's fourth: Three account paths built for different trading styles. One-time pricing with no monthly billing. EOD drawdown that locks at starting balance + $100 once you're profitable, giving you permanent floor protection on your starting capital. Rules have been stable.
Three account families
Tradeify runs Growth, Select, and Lightning. All three use EOD trailing drawdown. They differ on consistency rules, DLL, and how fast you get funded.
Growth -- Cheapest entry. Has a soft DLL during evaluation hits it and trading pauses for the day, account doesn't fail. No consistency rule on eval. 35% consistency kicks in once funded. Growth 50K = $90.35 with current code.
Select -- No DLL at any stage. 40% consistency on eval only, no consistency once funded. Two funded paths: Daily (paid every day, lower max payout cap, DLL applies on funded) or Flex (every 5 days, no DLL funded, higher max payout). Select 50K = $107.25.
Lightning -- Instant funded, no evaluation, straight to funded account. 20% consistency rule. DLL applies. Higher entry price. Best for experienced traders who want to skip eval entirely.
Select evaluation specs
Select Eval | 25K | 50K | 100K | 150K |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Price (with KAGE) | $70.85 | $107.25 | $172.25 | $239.85 |
Profit Target | $1,500 | $2,500 | $6,000 | $9,000 |
Max Drawdown (EOD) | $1,000 | $2,000 | $3,000 | $4,500 |
Daily Loss Limit | None | None | None | None |
Consistency (Eval) | 40% | 40% | 40% | 40% |
KAGE gives 35% off on Tradeify -- limited to 5 uses per user, drops to 30% after that. Expires June 30th. If you're planning to buy multiple accounts, stack them before the deadline.
The drawdown lock
This is the Tradeify mechanic that doesn't get enough attention. Once your account balance crosses starting balance + $100 in realized profit, the trailing drawdown locks permanently. You cannot breach below your starting capital from that point. It's a structural advantage that gives genuine peace of mind once you've built early profit -- the floor stops moving.
Best for: Traders who want stable, clearly defined rules and one-time pricing without monthly billing. Anyone whose strategy benefits from the drawdown locking mechanic once profitable.

#5 Best for plan flexibility: MyFundedFutures

Why it's fifth: 4.9 Trustpilot rating from 11,000+ reviews strongest community reputation in this list. Four distinct plans covering completely different trading profiles. Monthly subscription model but each plan is built around a specific payout cadence and funded mechanic.
Four plans, four different products
MFFU runs Builder, Flex, Rapid, and Pro. They share EOD trailing drawdown on the evaluation but diverge significantly once funded. Pick the wrong plan for your trading style and you're fighting the mechanics instead of trading.
Plan | Eval DD | Funded DD | Payout Freq | Split | Consistency (Funded) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Builder (50K only) | EOD | EOD | Every 48hrs | 80/20 | 50% |
Flex (25K, 50K) | EOD | EOD | Weekly | 80/20 | None |
Rapid (25K-150K) | EOD | Intraday | Daily | 90/10 | None |
Pro (50K-150K) | EOD | EOD | Bi-Weekly | 80/20 | None |
Builder -- The fastest path to a first payout, pass in as little as one day. Funded every 48 hours. 80/20 split. EOD trailing on both eval and funded. The only MFFU plan with a consistency rule on the funded account (50%).
Flex -- Two-day eval. EOD trailing both phases. No consistency rule once funded. 80/20 split. Weekly payouts. The simplest funded experience on MFFU. Best for traders who want predictable weekly withdrawals without the intraday trailing risk.
Rapid -- Two-day eval with EOD trailing. Funded switches to intraday trailing. 90/10 split. Daily payouts. No consistency rule. Best split in the lineup, daily payouts from day one. The tradeoff: intraday trailing means your floor moves in real time on the funded account. Same mechanic as TPT's PRO account. Manage it accordingly.
Pro -- Two-day eval. EOD trailing both phases. Bi-weekly payouts. 80/20 split. No consistency rule. For traders who want EOD drawdown funded, larger account sizes, and are fine with bi-weekly rather than daily payouts.
Pricing (promo rates with CODE: KAGE )
Plan + Size | Price/mo | Profit Target | Funded DD |
|---|---|---|---|
Builder 50K | $91.8 | $3,000 | EOD |
Flex 50K | $127 | $3,000 | EOD |
Rapid 25K | $87.20 | $1,500 | Intraday |
Rapid 50K | $125.6 | $3,000 | Intraday |
Pro 50K | $227.00 | $4,000 | EOD |
Pro 100K | $344.00 | $8,000 | EOD |
Rapid is the only MFFU plan with intraday trailing on the funded account. If you're not comfortable with intraday trailing DD mechanics, Builder, Flex, or Pro are the right choices.
Best for: Rapid if you want daily payouts and 90/10 split and can manage intraday trailing. Flex or Pro if you want EOD funded drawdown throughout. Builder if you want the fastest path to a first payout and can trade within the 50% funded consistency rule.

3 questions to answer before you buy
1. How many attempts do you realistically expect to need?
- 1-3 attempts: Firm barely matters. Pick Take Profit Trader for cleanest eval rules and same-day PRO payouts.
- 4-10 attempts: Cost-per-attempt is everything. Apex at $19-25 one-time is the answer. Learn the drawdown type before buying.
- 10+: Stop spending. Fix the strategy in simulation against your chosen firm's exact rules first.
2. What drawdown type matches how you actually trade?
- You go intraday negative and recover by close: EOD drawdown (TPT eval, Apex EOD, Tradeify, Lucid, MFFU Flex).
- You scalp tight and close fast: Intraday is workable (Apex Intraday, MFFU Rapid).
- You're not sure yet: Start with EOD until you understand your intraday P&L pattern.
3. What's your actual budget per attempt?
- Under $25 per attempt: Apex with KAGE (90% off, one-time). Budget separately for the $69-$149 activation fee.
- $65-$100 per attempt: Tradeify or Lucid (both one-time, no monthly billing, no activation fee).
- Monthly budget $99-$120: TPT (30% off with KAGE, cleanest rules) or MFFU Rapid (daily payouts, 90/10 split).
The one rule that applies to every firm
Before buying any evaluation, paper trade the exact rules for 30 days. Apply the specific drawdown type, consistency rule, DLL, and position limits of whatever firm you're considering. If you can't consistently pass in simulation with those rules applied, you won't pass the real evaluation.
Many successful funded traders required dozens of attempts before becoming consistently profitable. The difference is they kept the cost per attempt low enough to survive long enough to build real discipline. The habits you build in simulation are the habits you'll have under pressure. Sloppy position sizing in sim becomes a breach when your own money is on the line.
- Pick one firm based on the three questions above.
- Paper trade their exact rules for at least 30 days. Pass consistently before buying.
- Use KAGE at checkout. Treat your first evaluation as paid simulation with real consequences.
Forget getting rich this year. Your first job is survival. Not blowing your account in month one. The firm you pick matters far less than whether you have a tested, rule-based strategy before you risk evaluation money.
